Acting Vice-Provost, Teaching & Learning

Professor Micah Stickel was appointed as Vice-Provost, Teaching & Learning from July 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026 while Professor Susan McCahan is on administrative leave from her role as Vice-Provost, Teaching & Learning. Professor Stickel previously served as Acting Vice-Provost, Students from October 2020 to March 2021. He also served as Vice-Dean, First Year Engineering, in the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering from 2012 to 2020.

As Acting Vice-Provost, Teaching & Learning, Professor Stickel will continue developing, assessing and supporting impactful, evidence-based, and technology-enabled teaching and learning initiatives across the University of Toronto. 

Professor Stickel is Professor, Teaching Stream in the Edward S. Rogers Sr. Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering. His research focuses on the impacts of active learning techniques and the effective use of educational technology in engineering education. Professor Stickel is the recipient of several departmental teaching awards. In 2020 he received the President’s Teaching Award, the University of Toronto’s highest honour recognizing excellence in teaching and educational leadership.
