Interim, Vice-Principal (Academic) & Dean University of Toronto Scarborough

Professor Mark Schmuckler was appointed Interim Vice-Principal (Academic) & Dean, University of Toronto Scarborough for a one-year term effective July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027. Professor Schmuckler’s previous appointments include: Interim Associate Vice-Principal, Research and Innovation, Research Facilities and Infrastructure, UTSC;  Acting Chair of Health and Society, UTSC; Acting Vice-Provost, Academic Programs and Innovations in Undergraduate Education; Vice-Provostial Advisor, Academic Programs; Vice-Dean, Undergraduate, UTSC; and Interim Vice-Principal, Research, UTSC.

As a Professor of Psychology at UTSC since 2000, Professor Schmuckler’s research spans infant perceptual-motor development, multisensory perception, cognition, and music perception and cognition. His work has been supported by major external funding agencies, including the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), with multiple long-term Discovery Grants and collaborative international projects.

Professor Schmuckler received his BA at State University of New York (Binghamton) and his PhD from Cornell University.
