Dean, John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design

Professor Mason White was appointed as Dean of the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design for a five-year term from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2031. Professor White previously served as the Director of the MArch program, the Post-Professional MArch/MLA, and the Master of Urban Design.

Mason White is a Professor at the Daniels Faculty, where he has held a faculty appointment since 2005. As a researcher and practitioner, his focus is on cold-climate architecture and urbanism, and he often collaborates with Indigenous partners on community empowering research and projects. He has been a primary investigator and collaborator on several major arts and tri-council grants with $2.4 million in funded research. Professor White is a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and a founding Partner of Lateral Office, which has received numerous awards including notably the Canadian Architect Award of Merit, Gold Award from Holcim Foundation for Sustainable Construction, and Special Mention representing Canada at the Venice Biennale in Architecture. 

Professor White received his BArch from Virginia Tech and his MArch from Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
