Assistant Vice-President, Institutional Affairs & Senior Advisor

Archana Sridhar is the Assistant Vice-President, Institutional Affairs & Senior Advisor in the Office of the Vice-President & Provost. In this role, she collaborates with key partners to strengthen the University’s capacity for proactive, coordinated, and strategic management of issues that may impact the University’s reputation and operations. As a senior advisor to the President and Provost, the Assistant Vice-President leads the University’s response to critical issues and incidents, provides high-level strategic counsel on sensitive matters, and chairs the University’s Issues Management Group (IMG).

Archana has served the University of Toronto with distinction since 2010, first as Assistant Dean of the Graduate Program in the Faculty of Law and then as Assistant Provost in the Office of the Vice-President and Provost. As Assistant Provost, she was an integral member of the University’s leadership team, developing an expertise on matters of free expression and academic freedom. Her contributions have been invaluable to the University, earning her the University’s prestigious Chancellor’s Award in 2021.

A former Fulbright Scholar, she received her Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School, and her B.A. from Bard College (Religious Studies). Archana practiced tax and non-profit law with Sullivan & Worcester LLP in Boston and worked as a fundraiser at the international humanitarian organization ReSurge International. She served as the Assistant Dean of Research & Special Projects at Indiana University’s Maurer School of Law; Associate Director of York University’s Jay and Barbara Hennick Centre for Business & Law; and Assistant Dean of the Graduate Program at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Law. Archana has served on the Board of Directors of the South Asian Legal Clinic of Ontario and the South Asian Philanthropy Project, which she co-founded in 2008.
