Dean, John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design

Professor Juan Du joined the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design in July 2021 following extensive experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership in Asia and the United States. Professor Du was previously at the University of Hong Kong (HKU), Faculty of Architecture, where she served as Associate Dean (International and Mainland China Affairs), in addition to holding various academic and administrative leadership roles during her 15 years of tenure at the university.

Professor Du is an internationally recognized architectural scholar. Her work has been published in various sources: e-flux, The Architectural Review, Domus, Journal of Architectural Education, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, and CNN. She was recently featured in New Chinese Architecture: Twenty Women Building the Future published by Thames & Hudson Publishers (London Press).

Professor Du received her BDes in Architecture at the University of Florida, her MArch at Princeton University, and her PhD in Architecture from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich). Prior to joining HKU, Professor Du worked in acclaimed architecture firms in the US, Europe, and China for over a decade, and was a Lecturer and Visiting Assistant Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Fulbright Fellow, and Senior Visiting Scholar at Tongji University, and has served as Design Critic at various international academic institutions.
