|Re:||Academic Administrative Procedures Manual|
I am pleased to provide you with two copies of this year’s edition of the Academic Administrative Procedures Manual. New features include a calendar of activities for the year. Changes have been made in virtually all the other sections.
This Manual incorporates the Recruitment and Approval Process for Hiring of New Faculty binder, first issued in September 2001. The Manual also includes procedures for three-year reviews, tenure and promotions and appointments of lecturers, part-time faculty and stipendiary instructors. These sections are based on the manual developed by the Faculty of Arts and Science, and we are grateful for their permission to incorporate this material. The material has been compiled and adapted by staff in the Provost's Office, coordinated by Carol Robb.
I urge you to review the material in the Manual carefully before you embark on any of the procedures that are included.
The Manual describes policies and procedures that are approved by Governing Council, several of which are 'frozen' under the Memorandum of Agreement with the University of Toronto Faculty Association. While every effort has been taken to ensure the accuracy of the information presented, the official Governing Council policy will take precedence over the Manual where there is a discrepancy. If you find any such discrepancies please contact this office.
The Manual is intended to be a work in progress. A version is posted on the Provost's website and updated regularly. The web contains direct links to key reference documents and forms and I encourage you to work with that version as much as possible. The binder is revised on an annual basis.
Your feedback over the last year has been invaluable as we prepared these revisions and we continue to welcome your feedback on this Manual and suggestions for topics which could be included in future updates.
