(New Faculty Orientation, Summer School Day, Back to School Workshop Series and Teaching with Technology Fair)
I am pleased to announce a series of upcoming events for new and returning faculty hosted by the Office of the Vice-President and Provost and the Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation (CTSI), in partnership with the Office of the Vice-President Research & Innovation, the Library, Dual Career Connection and the Family Care Office. We encourage you to share this information with your new and returning faculty.
Please note: newly appointed tenure and teaching stream faculty and new permanent status librarians will receive a personalized invitation via email to register and attend the new faculty orientation.
NEW FACULTY ORIENTATION
Monday, August 25, 2014, 9:00am – 7:00pm
(NB: This day is for newly appointed tenure and teaching stream faculty and new permanent status librarians)
The New Faculty Orientation is intended to provide new faculty with an opportunity to network and create a community, introduce key resources and resource people, discuss teaching perspectives and best practices, and highlight some of UofT’s key policies.
This day will include sessions on teaching and supporting our students, a teaching and learning information fair, roundtable discussions with award-winning instructors, and break-out sessions tailored specifically to academic appointment types (a research orientation for tenure stream faculty, creating a successful teaching career path for lecturers, or an orientation for new librarians). Partners and spouses of new faculty are also invited to attend an orientation in the afternoon, followed by a BBQ for faculty and their family at the end of the day.
