Re:  Dean Mayo Moran appointed Provost of Trinity College

I am writing to announce that Professor Mayo Moran, Dean of the Faculty of Law, has accepted the position of Provost and Vice-Chancellor of Trinity College, one of the University of Toronto's federated colleges. She will be stepping down from her position as Dean, effective April 30, 2014.

Professor Mayo Moran has served as Dean of the Faculty of Law since 2006. She has led the Faculty of Law through a period of growth, culminating in the construction of the new Jackman Law Building. She also developed many centres and programs including the Asper Centre for Constitutional Rights, the Internationally Trained Lawyers Program and a new graduate degree. Dean Moran focussed on the student experience including enhancing student services, academic and co-curricular programs. In 2013, the Faculty was listed among the world's top five law schools. The James Marshall Tory Dean's Chair, Dean Moran researches how law can help to address the wrongs of the past. Since 2007 she has assisted in the implementation of the Residential Schools Agreement. She also undertakes policy work and in 2013, she was appointed by the Province of Ontario to lead a review of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).

Please join me in thanking Professor Moran for her dedicated service as Dean and in wishing her the very best in her new role at Trinity College.

In the next few days, I will begin consultations regarding the appointment of an Interim Dean, as well as issue a call for nominations for members of an Advisory Committee to recommend on the appointment of the new Dean. Nominations and thoughts about the desired qualities of the Interim Dean should be sent by Friday, March 10, 2014 to the attention of Assistant Provost Archana Sridhar at
