Re: PTR/Merit Assessment and Salary Increase Instructions for 2009-2010 Notification for Faculty

The University and UTFA are currently awaiting the outcome from the arbitration before Mr. Martin Teplitsky QC on salary and benefits. The arbitrated award will be for two years, commencing retroactively on July 1, 2009 and ending June 30, 2011 and it will determine the ATB amounts for 2009/10 and 2010/11 and the amount of PTR/Merit for 2010/11. As soon as the award is known instructions regarding implementation will be issued to PDAD&C and Business Officers.

PDAD&C #86 PTR/Merit Assessment and Salary Increase Instructions for 2009-2010 issued on the 6th May 2010 instructed units to initiate the Merit Assessment process for faculty and librarians as normal and provided a timetable which was to be adhered to by all divisions.

Normally all faculty and librarians should receive written notification of their performance assessment and PTR by July 1st 2010. However until the arbitrated award is known, you will be unable to provide the amount of PTR and ATB allocated or the appropriate histogram.

In the meantime all academic units should proceed to issue written notification of the performance assessment for faculty and librarians, which provide feedback on the individual's performance for the academic year 2009-10. If a scoring mechanism is used in the unit and is typically included in assessment letters, this may also be provided. Letters should be received by faculty and librarians by 1st July 2010.

The following language may be included in individual letters to faculty and librarians:
