I am pleased to announce that the Executive Committee has approved the extension of Professor Cheryl Misak's appointment as Deputy Provost for an additional four-year term from July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2012.
Professor Misak was appointed as Deputy Provost for a one-year term starting July 1, 2007 following the departure of Dave Farrar.
Prior to joining the Office of the Vice-President and Provost, Professor Misak was Acting Vice-President and Principal at the University of Toronto at Mississauga, and before that was serving as the Vice-Principal, Academic and Dean since July 1, 2003. In these roles, Professor Misak has demonstrated outstanding leadership and a significant capacity to successfully manage complex and sensitive administrative matters.
Previous to her academic administrative roles at UTM, Professor Misak was Chair of the Department of Philosophy in the Faculty of Arts & Science from July 1, 2000 to June 30, 2003, and Graduate Coordinator and Associate Chair, Department of Philosophy from 1998 - 2000.
Professor Misak received her BA from the University of Lethbridge, MA from Columbia University, and her D.Phil from the University of Oxford. She has been a member of the University of Toronto professoriate since 1990.
