RE:         Appointment of Lucy Fromowitz as Assistant Vice-President, Student Life

______________________________________________________________________________

Further to PDAD&C #45 (March 1, 2007), I am pleased to announce the appointment of Lucy Fromowitz as Assistant Vice-President, Student Life effective January 1, 2008.

Ms. Fromowitz received her B.A. in English from York University in 1981. She has a rich background in the student life area having spent almost 30 years championing student access to and success in post-secondary education in both the university and college sectors. She is currently the Vice-President, Student and Community Engagement at Centennial College, a position that she has held since 2001. Prior to that she held different positions at York University: Director of Academic Services in the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences; Director of Alumni Affairs/Executive Director of York’s Alumni Associate; and Director of Admissions.

She has also served as Chair of the Ontario Colleges Coordinating Committee on Student Services and as member of the Provincial Enrolment Planning Work Group.

In her capacity as Vice-President, Student and Community Engagement at Centennial College, Ms. Fromowitz’s primary focus has been on student engagement. She has worked closely with partners across Centennial to further this goal. She engaged the college community, including student services and academic departments, in an enrolment planning process that is comprehensive and outcomes-based. She also worked to realign services to meet the needs of current students and established new services to support student success. Finally, she built strong teams to work cooperatively and strategically to achieve these aims.

Ms. Fromowitz is a passionate advocate of education and has been a leader in the development of program and services to meet the needs of diverse student populations. Please join me in welcoming her to the University of Toronto.
