|Re:||Appointment of Provostial Advisor on Public Policy|
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Carolyn Tuohy as Provostial Advisor on Public Policy, for a three year term effective July 1, 2006.
In this newly created role, Professor Tuohy will advise me on the optimal ways in which the University and its academic divisions can create and respond to opportunities for engagement with partners in the public, private, voluntary and community sectors in addressing issues of public policy. She will facilitate interaction among the academic divisions of the University to address issues of public policy.
As you know, one of the five institutional interdisciplinary priorities identified in Stepping Up is public policy and governance, building on the work of the Task Force on Public Policy Studies. I am confident that Professor Tuohy's academic experience as a political scientist and her wealth of administrative experience as Vice-President, Government and Institutional Relations and other senior administrative positions in Simcoe Hall, in addition to her participation in the Rae Review process and the subsequent Provincial Budget gives her the appropriate background to help us to address matters of public policy at the University.
