PDAD&C #86, 2005-06

From: Paul W. Gooch, President, Victoria University
Date: February 17, 2006
Subject: Re-appointment of Professor David Cook as Principal of Victoria College

At its meeting on 11 February 2006, the Board of Regents of Victoria University appointed Professor David Cook to a second term as Principal of Victoria College, from 1 July 2006 to 30 June 2011.

The advisory committee, chaired by the President, included representatives from among the Fellows of the College, Emmanuel College, students, administrative staff, Board members, and the Dean of Arts and Science and the Vice-Provost Academic from the University of Toronto. The committee's deliberations were guided by the report of the review of Victoria College conducted in the fall term 2005. The advisory committee unanimously agreed that Professor Cook should be offered a second term, and the Board happily approved this recommendation.

Professor Cook graduated from Victoria College in 1969, and holds the M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Toronto. A respected member of the Department of Political Science, he has had a distinguished career in academic administration, most recently as Principal of Victoria College,
where has overseen significant initiatives in programs and in the enhancement of student experience.

Members of Victoria University and the University of Toronto, and especially his colleagues among the principals and deans, will join me, I know, in congratulating David Cook on his re-appointment. I am grateful to have the opportunity to continue to work with him.
