Re:  Post-Doc Opportunity in the UK

The British High Commission, Ottawa, is pleased to announce a new programme to enable North American postdoctoral fellows to spend up to eight weeks at a UK university or research institute. The scheme is open to Canadian post docs working in science, engineering or medical research and is being administered by the Royal Society of London. The value of each award is up to £4,000 (approx C$8,000).

The first deadline for applications is January 12 2006 for travel from April 2006 (with a second deadline in June 2006). Details of the scheme can be found at www.royalsoc.ac.uk/namericasv.

Please can you circulate the attached flier to those who might find the scheme of interest.
Eleanor Fast from the British High Commission will be in Toronto on December 7 and would welcome the opportunity to come and speak to you or individuals interested in the scheme.

Though the High Commission is not able to help post docs find UK hosts, the British High Commission would be happy to answer any administrative questions. We would also advise those interested to read the scheme notes carefully as they are required to apply through the Royal Society's e-GAP system.

This is a great opportunity for Canadian post docs to spend a short period in a specific UK laboratory, collaborating with a colleague or trying out new equipment or methodology. We encourage you to promote the scheme as widely as possible.
