I am pleased to announce the dates for orientation events for newly appointed faculty members. The first orientation, Teaching at the University of Toronto: An Orientation for New Instructors will be held on 27 July 2006, from 10am - 2pm at the Faculty Club (41 Wilcocks Street) (Lunch will be served). This orientation will address issues specific to teaching at the University of Toronto and within the Canadian educational context and will include an overview of the academic cycle and available teaching resources. We will also look at various teaching issues.
An additional orientation session, Beginning Teaching and Research at the University of Toronto, will be held 7 September 2006 and will address teaching, research and career progression issues.
Please forward information on the appropriate session to new appointees who began or will begin between January 1, 2006 and September 1, 2006. You are welcome to invite faculty who began their appointments in the fall of 2005, as well.
We are also pleased to offer once again the popular Orientation for New Faculty Spouses and Partners. This event is scheduled for 27 September 2006 from 10am - 2pm. Watch for more details on the Office of Teaching Advancement's website. (Registration is available at:
