|Re:||Appointment of Professor Brian Langille, Interim Dean, Faculty of Law|
I am pleased to announce that the Academic Board has approved the appointment of Professor Brian Langille as Interim Dean, effective July 1, 2005 until June 30, 2006 or until the appointment of a new Dean, whichever comes first.
Since joining the Faculty of Law in 1983, Professor Langille has been a distinguished scholar and teacher specializing in international and domestic labour law. He has also been a dedicated university citizen. He served two terms as Associate Dean of Graduate Studies at the Faculty of Law, and was from 1995 to 2003 an active and committed member of the University's Governing Council, Business Board, and the Executive Committee. Professor Langille served as Acting Dean of the Faculty of Law from July 1, 2003 to June 30, 2004. In taking up this position Professor Langille has again demonstrated his ongoing commitment to the Faculty and the University and is foregoing significant scholarly opportunities for the next year. I am extremely grateful to Professor Langille for his willingness to step forward for this important task.
