I am writing to let you know that the handbook, Tips for Teaching, is now available online through the newly established Office of Teaching Advancement website at www.utoronto.ca/ota. (Once there, select the "Teaching Guides" option.) Hard copies will no longer be available from our office. I would encourage you to bring this handbook to the attention of teaching assistants in your unit.
I would also urge you to visit the Office of Teaching Advancement and acquaint yourself with the range of resources that are available to help you and your colleagues in the development of effective instructional skills. The OTA is located next to the Resource Centre for Academic Technology (RCAT) on the 4th floor of Robarts Library and is home to the Teaching Assistants' Training Program (TATP). Working together, the staff in these offices would like to help you to make the most of instructional technology, to help our teaching assistants to be as effective as possible, and to assist our teaching staff to achieve excellence in the classroom. Its Director, Professor Ken Bartlett, would be pleased to assist you and the colleagues in your academic unit. He can be reached by e-mail at email@example.com or by phone at 416-946-8534.
