On June 30, 2003, Professor Michael Fullan will complete his term as Dean of OISE/UT. Dean Fullan is not eligible for reappointment.
In accordance with Section 60 of the Policy on Appointment of Academic Administrators (Perron Rules), I am writing to call for nominations of individuals to serve on the search committee that will advise the President on the appointment of a new Dean.
The Perron Rules mandate the potential composition of the search committee as follows:
In addition, the committee may include an alumnus/a, a member of the administrative staff, and a senior member of the appropriate professional community.
The search committee will also function as a review committee, in keeping with the University's established practice of conducting periodic divisional reviews at the end of a Dean's or Principal's term. The review committee will use a self-study of the past five years, the Dean's report on the current state of OISE/UT and the report submitted by the Task Force to Review OISE/UT's Structure that has already been commissioned by the Dean, assuming that the Task Force completes its report this fall. In addition, the review committee will consider the report of external reviewers who will be visiting OISE/UT early in the fall term.
The search committee will begin meeting in October 2002 with the objective of completing the review in the fall of 2002, and identifying a new Dean early in the year 2003, to allow for a smooth transition.
