|RE:||Advisory Information Regarding SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome)|
A number of questions have been raised regarding the SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) outbreak and issues that may involve the University community. Since the situation is evolving rapidly, we urge you to visit the websites listed below for the most up to date information regarding quarantine, precautions and any other actions deemed necessary by public health officials.
A quarantine may apply to some members of the University community. If a faculty or staff member is quarantined, this time should be recorded as sick leave. If a student is quarantined, academic accommodation should be available as it would be in the case of an illness. All quarantined individuals should abide by the terms of quarantine.
Individuals traveling abroad should consult the DFAIT (Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade) website http://www.voyage.gc.ca/dest/ctry/reportpage-en.asp for the latest travel advisories. Health Canada has a Travel Health Advisory website http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/pphb-dgspsp/tmp-pmv/2003/ars0316_e.html that contains relevant information for those returning from certain countries.
Please consult these websites on a regular basis. Our offices will be monitoring this situation regularly and will issue further information as necessary.
