On April 30, 2003, Professor Carl Amrhein will step down as Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science. He will be leaving the University to become the Vice-President (Academic) and Provost at the University of Alberta.

In accordance with Section 60 of the Policy on Appointment of Academic Administrators (Perron Rules), President Robert Birgeneau has appointed a committee to recommend the appointment of a Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science. The composition of the committee is as follows:
