|RE:||Training Workshop: Managing in a Unionized Environment|
I am pleased to announce that a training session, covering the topic of Managing in a Unionized Environment is being offered on Thursday, January 24th, 2002, from 1:30 - 5:00 p.m. This session is designed specifically for those who have been academic administrators for some time. The workshop was offered for the first time last year, and was highly successful. (A separate session, which will also include a session on equity issues, is being organized for those who have been newly appointed to academic administrative roles).
The presenter and facilitator of the session on Managing in a Unionized Environment, Dr. Dan Julius, is Associate Vice-President for Academic Affairs at the University of San Francisco and is a highly regarded consultant on issues of administration in higher education. The workshop will cover what it means to administer in a unionized environment and will focus on the critical contract and grievance administration issues, including those that arise from our agreements with CUPE 3902 (which represents our TA's) and USWA (which represents most of our administrative staff.)
The session description and registration information are attached. Any questions may be directed to Elaine Preston, Coordinator - Leadership Development by phone at 978-3927 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. I encourage you to attend this important session.
